Good Evening my beautiful readers!
So thought I’d give you an update on my weight-loss. Monday is my weigh in day and I always weigh in in the morning. Today the scales said 93kg which is 14st 6.5lbs / 205.03lbs. I am super happy with this! I started my sugar reduction and general healthier diet at the beginning of January and have since lost 9kg which is 1st 4.2lbs / 19.84 lbs! Woo!
I also had my first proper gym session at my new gym this morning, which was so difficult haha! Definitely not used to it anymore! If I didn’t have my programme to stick to though I definitely would have done less! Time will build up some stamina, I just need to stick at it! Looking forward to tomorrows session already, especially as its my day off so I’ll have time for a refreshing swim afterwards!

I found this quote very interesting and wanted to share it with you. Our outlook on life, what we choose to see or ignore and how we regard things can really make a difference to our quality of life I believe. There is beauty all around us, but when we get caught up in our busy lives we sometimes forget to just stop and appreciate the simple things in life. Hitting the pause button for a minute to appreciate our surroundings or telling ourselves some positive affirmations can really put a smile on our face, brighten our day and actually help de-stress us.
In relation to the idea of perspectives, I find the film About Time, very inspiring. An emotionally beautiful film; it explores our outlook on life. To me it suggests that if we live every moment appreciating the little things we forget to be grateful for, we would, as well as feeling less stressed, just have an overall happier and satisfying life. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I would definitely recommend, and let me know what your thoughts are!

Good afternoon my beautiful readers!
As I mentioned in my last post I was feeling the pain from the barbell squats I had done on Thursday, but little did I expect how much worse it would become haha. My legs ached throughout the day yesterday and I am still struggling today. Having to walk up and down stairs as well as sitting down and standing back up again is definitely the most uncomfortable, but even just walking hurts. I do find the situation rather amusing, although I’m complaining a lot haha; I have just never had such muscle pain before!
I guess I should mention what weights I was squatting with. I used a 15kg barbell and started off with 2.5kg plates for 10 squats, then my instructor added 1kg plates for another 10 squats and then we exchanged the plates for 5kg plates for another 10 squats. All in all only 30 squats but when you’re not used to doing them and end up squatting with 25kg extra, it kills your legs aha!
I didn’t actually do much exercise at my programming session with one of the instructors, it was more of a 1 min trial of each machine and working out what settings I should use. It was really helpful though to create a workout routine for me to follow. I like the idea of having something to work and improve on over the weeks; however we only had time to cover cardio and arms, so I have booked in for another session next Wednesday to look at legs and abs.
Even though I didn’t do much exercise in the gym yesterday (a couple of weights, a 10 min treadmill walk on a steep incline and a 20 min swim) because I had a meeting about a potential third part time job and ran out of time, I did walk into town and back twice. So to my minimal exercise I can at least add another 100 min of walking. After I’d had my meeting and ran some errands in town, I popped into a cafe and enjoyed a decaf coffee and homemade ciabatta with just some plain old butter and relaxed for a bit. Walking was hurting my legs aha so it was nice to have a sit down although as mentioned even that really hurt haha.
When I got home I finished some tasks around the house and then drew a much needed Epsom salt bath to sooth my sore muscles. I could have sat there all evening but alas eventually the water got cold.

Good morning my beautiful readers! It’s around 8am as I write this and the sun which has put a smile on my face compared to yesterdays miserable weather. A bright fresh spring morning, it fills me with positive energy – today is going to be a good day!
I have started my day of well with a delicious smoothie bowl made from frozen mixed berries, banana, almond milk and cocoa powder, and then topped with oats, nuts, chia seeds, banana and pomegranate – yum!
It’s my day off today but I thought I’d start the day by going to the gym. I signed up to my local gym on Wednesday evening and had my induction yesterday. My induction was mostly just a tour of the equipment really as I knew how to work the majority of the machines already; however I did ask to try the weighted squats – bad decision haha. I thought I’d just have a quick try and that’d be it, but no, the gym instructor added more and more weights and got me to do more squats than I’d planned on; which to be fair was fun, but not afterwards as my legs felt like jelly for the rest of the day. This morning I can feel the pain in my muscles, but it’s a good pain. It feels good to know I worked on something, so I’m not complaining. Today, I need be at the gym for 9am as I have booked in for a programming session. I have never done this before and am curious to see what it’s like to follow a specific workout routine.
