Hello my beautiful friends,

I am sure you have all been witnessing the recent colouring book craze! There are new colouring books popping up everywhere from floral and patterned designs to movie and series  images. A lot of the colouring books are also being advertised for mindfulness and meditation, some including quotes and ideas to contemplate on whilst colouring. I love that it is such a big trend at the moment. I believe it is important for people of all ages to have a creative outlet; and colouring is a great way to switch off and just unwind as you become engulfed with the drawings in front of you.

Last year I treated myself to Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom which has so many beautiful patterns and I got stuck in as soon as I got home happily disappearing for 2 hours to paint an elephant in watercolours. Admittedly I haven’t used it as much as I would like because I really struggle with giving myself me time to unwind, even when I know it does me so much good! I know I need to work on that, and will be trying my best to relax and do some more colouring. I would definitely recommend you treat yourself to some nice pencils and a colouring book too and give it a try if you haven’t already!

Tip: Look on amazon, way way cheaper than buying in shops like WHSmith’s, although you could have a look in the shop to see which book you actually like best 🙂

Hello my beautiful readers,

Time for another what I eat in a day.

So yesterday, as most Tuesdays, I had a day off and spent all morning working on this blog and planning future posts. For my breakfast I made this yummy smoothie: 1 banana, 10 frozen strawberries, 1 slice of pineapple, 1tbsp of cocoa, 1 tsp of matcha powder, 1 tsp of green boost powder!

At 1.30pm I was still working on my blog whilst catching up on watching YouTube, but paused to make a quick bite of lunch – courgetti spaghetti – yummmm! 1/2 a courgette, a handful of olives, tbsp of green pesto, 1 slice of ham, pepper et voila!

In the afternoon, I went to the gym doing some cardio and some weights. When I got home I cooked some dinner – a tasty green veggie stir fry rice dish! Broccoli, green beans, kale, bean sprouts, onion, garlic, chicken and soy sauce! Twas very yummy and I treated myself to some beer too, a light 2.8% small bottle from Lidl.

After dinner, I ran myself a bath and had another beer and watched some very powerful and interesting documentaries about the meat and dairy industry – I will write a post about these documentaries soon! Well that’s it for today or rather yesterday aha! Hope you enjoyed!

“The trouble is that, for women, being “nice” often translates into putting up with things we should never put up with. How many times has some creep sat uncomfortably close to me on the bus and stared me down, yet I’m too afraid to just get up and move, lest I offend him?

We smile when we’re harassed on the street or hit on by jerks. We laugh at sexist jokes. We learn that when we have strong opinions, we’ll be called bitches and that if we get angry, we’ll be called hysterical. When we say what we want, we’re called pushy or aggressive.

Part of learning “ladylike” behavior is about learning to smile politely when someone is being crude. Femininity has long been attached to passivity and to being docile. Men fight, women giggle and fume silently.”

Hey my lovelies,

So when I spotted this quote on Artparasites on Facebook, it hit a chord. I could totally relate to the first paragraph, having been in the same position of not wanting to move on a bus for fear of judgement. We are in the 21st century, why on earth does society still have such a hold on our behaviour?! It saddens me that I don’t have to courage to just be myself and not give a shit of what society thinks of me! And I know I’m far from the only one who suffers from feeling pressured into society dictated gender roles/behaviour, and I am not just talking women here but men too. It is something I want to work on, learning to ignore opinions of people I don’t even know, and flourishing within myself instead! One of my  sincerest wishes would be for societal pressures to not exist, but sadly the Miller Effect (watch the movie We’re the Millers) will not fade out of fashion; I think it is part of our human nature to compare and want to fit in, survival of the fittest and all. It’s not just about possessions but behaviour and roles in society too. Anyway it’s some food for thought! I’d love to hear your opinions on the subject!

Hello my beautiful readers,

On my day off on Tuesday I went into Newcastle in the afternoon as it was such a nice day, although really windy, and I just needed to get out of the house for a bit and enjoy some me time. I popped into Primark as I needed some new leggings and trainers, but as usual ended up picking up a couple of other things too, so I just thought I’d share!

First I just picked up some plain black leggings; they are my no.1 wardrobe staple. I then spotted this cute peplum top for only £3 and had to get it. Admittedly it’s not quite warm enough yet to walk around in tops aha, but it has such a cute floaty shape and is great for layering. Shoe wise I only needed new light breathable trainers but  I fell in love with these greeny/grey slightly sturdier trainers and had to get them too!

Next I decided to treat myself to some new gym wear; having new stuff to wear to the gym is always motivational don’t you think? So my old gym trainer were very worn through and needed replacing, these black ones are super lightweight and airy which is perfect for the gym. I always get sweaty feet and hate trainers which are too thick and don’t let your feet breath, so I hope these will do the trick. On my way to town on Tuesday I dropped of some clothes at a charity shop, including a pair of gym leggings which were just too large, so when I saw these beautiful leggings I had to get them! Such cute floral pattern with a bit of meshing at the knee – I am in love! Although I’m a sweaty mess at the gym it’s nice to at least feel a little pretty in what you’re wearing aha. I also decided to get a new sports bra as I really liked the back mesh like pattern.

Just to mention, this is the first time I’ve posted photos of me in skin tight clothing and part of my stomach out, but you know what, it’s all about self love, and I felt great taking these photos and knowing I’m on my journey to self improvement makes me very happy and proud, this is my body, the only one I’ll ever have and I am learning to love it!
