Hey beautiful souls,
I love nothing more than snuggling up with a cuppa or a glass of wine and spending time with my friends getting hooked on new series. Recently I have been watching so many which is why I have been struggling to find the time to read and so I wanted to share with you what shows have been eating up most of my spare time at the moment.
Once Upon A Time
In Brief: Once Upon a Time is an American fantasy series. The show follows various fairy-tale characters who were transported from the enchanted forest to the “real world” and robbed of their original memories by a powerful curse cast by the evil queen Regina. It is set in the fictitious seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, where the protagonist Emma Swan is brought to town to break the curse. The series borrows elements and characters from the Disney franchise and popular Western literature, folklore, and fairy tales.
If you have not watched this show yet or even heard of it I advise you all to make time and start immediately! I love this show! I have already seen it bar the last season, but my housemates haven’t and so we are watching it together whenever we have the time! We are all obsessed with the little town of Storybrooke and it’s host of fairy tale charters. They go on adventure after adventure, evil and good battling against each other all the while and trying to solve curses and mysteries!
Game Of Thrones
In Brief: Game of Thrones is a popular show based on books by George R. R. Martin’s fantasy novels. Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, it has several plot lines and a large ensemble cast but centres on three primary story arcs. The first story arc centres on the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms and follows a web of alliances and conflicts among the dynastic noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from the throne. The second story arc focuses on the last descendant of the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty, exiled and plotting a return to the throne. The third story arc centres on the longstanding brotherhood charged with defending the realm against the ancient threats of the fierce peoples and legendary creatures that lie far north, and an impending winter that threatens the realm.
Again a series I have already watched bar the last season, but my housemate Jessica has not seen it yet and so we are watching this together. For me it is a good recap before I watch the latest season. Currently we are on season 4! I love this series so much!! And am very hyped for to hopefully finally watch the last season soon!
In brief: Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s, the first season focuses on the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy amid supernatural events occurring around the town including the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their own search. The second season, titled Stranger Things 2, is set a year after the first, and deals with attempts of the characters to return to normal and consequences that linger from the first season.
I binge watched the first season in like a day and am excited to finally sink my teeth into season 2 – however I am not binge watching it this time! I’m only one episode in so far but getting together with my friends to watch episode two this evening!
In brief: Shadowhunters is a supernatural series based on the Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare. The series follows Clary Fray who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather descends from a long line of Shadowhunters, nephilim who hunt down demons.
I wolfed these books down a couple of years ago and rather enjoyed the movie that was first made. This series however is soo much better than the movie as it has time to delve into much more depth – I loved it – binge watched it and finished it in days! I’m already excited for the next season! If you like fantasy you should definitely give this a go!
In brief: This series follows a group of high school kids in a small town after an evenful summer that saw the death of a fellow Riverdale student. The plot thickens quickly and the mysteries just keep unfolding bit by bit drawing you in and hooking you on.
My friend has been telling me for ages to watch this and I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. However I got hooked on pretty easy and have my friend waiting in anticipation to discuss all the newest developments!
What are you current favourite shows? I’d love to know!!!
Love Carina xo
