Good evening beautiful souls,
This evening I just wanted to share an easy little DIY project I enjoyed doing a couple of weeks ago before the snow hit. I’d had a day off and because it was so beautiful and sunny I decided I had to make the most of the great weather and took my little DIY project out into my backyard so that I could soak up the sun.
My dad still needed a mirror for the bathroom in his cafe and as I had an old unused brown paint stained mirror in the house, I thought I would spruce it up and if it turned out OK we could use it in the cafe.
Here’s what I did:
I found some creamy wood paint in our back shed and using a fine paintbrush covered the brown frame leaving only the gold rim.
Once I had a smooth coating of paint I let it dry for an hour or so. When it was dry I took a bit of sandpaper and filed some paint away again giving it that shabby chic effect. I know my photos aren’t the best but I’m really happy with how the mirror turned out and it is now hanging in the cafe bathroom. There we go, easy peasy upcycle project.
I enjoyed this little project a lot, just the act of having a paint brush in my hand again and thus I decided to also give the garden bench a fresh lick of paint. I cleaned it first and then sanded it down before applying a coat of paint. It needs another layer or two, but even the one coat makes a big difference I think.
I had such a good time being crafty outside in the sunshine that I can’t wait for the weather to improve now so that I can spruce up the rest of the garden and make it look all nice!!
Anyone else have any exciting upcycling ideas in the works??
