DAY TRIPPING TO YORK

Good evening beautiful souls,

Yesterday I spent a lovely day in York with one of my best friends from uni. I hadn’t seen Chloe since autumn last year and so it was lovely to catch up again.

I hopped on the train at around 9.55 and arrived in York at 10.40 ish. We started our day with our umbrellas pitched against the pouring rain and fighting a battle with the wind as they kept blowing inside out. Because it was so miserable we decided to do a spot of shopping and went into Primark where I tried some nice pieces on but didn’t buy as sadly non looked good on, but I did come out with some basics that needed stocking up, more socks and simple tank tops and the like.

After having a browse around topshop and a couple of other stores we sat down in Pret for a bite of lunch and I enjoyed a yummy avocado, olive and sun-dried tomato baguette.

The rain had finally stopped by the time we finished lunch and so we did a bit more window shopping discovering some really beautiful stores (I love a good window display) including a fragrance shop where I had to really resist spending my money. We also crossed paths with a cute tea shop where I bought a loose leaf gingerbread rooibush tea which I am excited to try as it smells amazing.

We then visited the three Harry Potter shops that can now be found in the Shambles and although I didn’t buy anything it made me want to go to the Harry Potter studios even more!

As it started getting colder we went for a pint and a nice long chat before walking along the wall a bit and then going for a cocktail. I tried an Amaretto in da ghetto aha which was super tasty!

Towards the end of the day we treated ourselves to dinner at the Botanist which was really tasty. I had olives for starters and then a delicious aubergine stake with giant morrocan couscous for mains. I was happy with the Vegan options available, a good selection and lots I wanted try; I shall have to go back another time.

At around 7.30pm we sadly has to say goodbye and I made my way to the station to catch my train home.

It was such a nice day despite the rain. I love York, it’s such a beautiful place and it’s always nice to catch up with friends you don’t see often.

BEAUTY HAUL

Good evening beautiful souls,

Firstly Happy Easter!!! I hope you’ve had a fabulous day!! I’ve been busy at work but am now going to a friend’s for dinner and a couple of episodes of Vikings!!

Anyway back to my post, I have recently purchased some new beauty bits & bobs and thought I would share what I got with you:

IMG_20180331_095553-01.jpeg

Firstly I made a stop in the Body Shop to buy some more moisture foundation with an spf of 15. They didn’t have my usual shade in stock, but the shade darker was on sale so I just went for it hoping it wasn’t too dark and that with sunnier days to come my skin would start tanning a little a day match the foundation well. I’ve yet to try a full face if it.

I also spotted this cute Metal Lip Liquid in the Body Shop and thought I’d give it a whirl. I love it! The application is a bit gloopy but it has a beautiful rosy shimmer!

Next I also bought the light Collection powder (which I stupidly dropped just before taking the photo and of course it smashed) because I’d ran out. I usually always wear powder just to set my foundation a little.

The Rimmel London mascara I actually picked up in Poundland, it’s a dark green which I loved the idea off, but actually it’s so dark it just looks black really which is a shame, I had hoped for a bit more of a green.

Last but not least I got these cute soft pink fake nails in Savers for whenever I next have a night out (probably not any time soon aha) or a lovely day out somewhere. Sadly I can’t wear fake nails or nail varnish to work as I work with food, so I only get to have pretty nails on special occasions.

Well that’s my mini haul done. Have any of you lovelies tried any of these products? I’d love to know.

Also I hope you are having a wonderful Easter weekend!

DAY OFF SHENANIGANS

Good evening beautiful souls,

Today I finally had a day off after working 13 days in a row. It’s been a long time since I just had a nice day out and so Jessica and I decided to go to Newcastle. After a relaxed breakfast of avocado on toast and a cuppa green tea with ginger, we got ready and hopped on the train.

The sun was out and it was a beautiful mild day as we set out to complete our to do list; return shoes, stock up in Lush, buy a new cafetiere, purchase make-up and douse ourselves in divine perfumes we can’t afford haha (we discovered a new favourite – Gucci Bloom Aqua Di Fiori – it’s amazing – has anyone tried it?!)

Once we’d ticked everything off our list we went to Olive & Bean for a spot of lunch. We ordered a cafetiere each and I got the olive, hummus and sun dried tomato sandwich whilst Jessica ordered a prawn salad. The food was really nice and the coffee had good flavour too, my only wish is that they had a few more vegan options on their large menu and that they decanted the cafetiere because the longer it stands it over extracts the coffee and becomes bitter. But it was still nice.

We then debated over which film to see at the cinema and decided on Tomb Raider over Peter Rabbit which was really good. I definitely recommend it and I hope to see follow ups!

The only downside of our trip to Newcastle is that I didn’t time it properly and so we didn’t get back to Durham in time for me to go home and get my yoga gear! I really need to make a better effort to start going to yoga again.

Anyway now we’re sitting in the Library having a pint as I write this blog post and wait to meet my friend Amy for a drink at 9pm.

All in all it’s been a great day off and I oy wish I had another one tomorrow!
I hope you have all had a lovely Wednesday!

ANOTHER BOOK HAUL

Good evening beautiful souls,

I feel like this is becoming a habit, buying books from The Works! I don’t have the time to read them all but I’m excited to try haha. Here’s some more books I recently added to my ever expanding collection.

Happy and L’art de la SimplicitΓ©

I picked up these two beauties in the Works. I’m really looking forward to reading these. I mean it’s always good to learn more and be inspired about how to be happy and live a more simplistic life. I’m still in the very long process of wanting to declutter and live more minimal so I think these books will be great!

the sun and her flowers

Having recently finished milk and honey and really enjoyed it, I decided to get rupi kaur’s other book. I’ve not read much poetry since my English Lit A-level and it’s nice to read some modern poetry which is very relatable.

Have any of you read these books?! I’d love to know what you think if you have!
