DESK TOURS

Good morning beautiful souls,

I am so exited to finally be sharing this blog post with you. I have been planning a Desk Tour post for so long that when the lovely Chloe Burford and I decided to do a collaboration I knew this would be perfect post to collab on as I’m super nosy and love to see how others organise their work spaces. If you don’t already follow Chloe go show her blog some love, she writes about everything from beauty & travel to mental health; oh and be sure to check out her Instagram too because it’s beaut!

Anyway without further ado, let’s get straight to it – I hope you enjoy my Desk Tour and be sure to check out Chloe’s Desk Set Up too!

Firstly, I can’t wait for the day that I have my own house where I dedicate a full room to being my study space, but for now I have to make do with fitting everything into my bedroom which does mean it’s all a little cramped, but nevermind.

My desk is an old black Ikea ADILS/LINNMON desk. I got it from my dad as he didn’t need it anymore, however as it did come with a few scuffs, I decided to give it a new lease of life and spruced it up by covering it in marble contact paper. I’m really happy with how it turned out and love the fact that such little DIY’s can make such a difference!

My desk chair is also a hand me down and, as you can probably tell, not an actual desk chair but an old arm chair my parents where getting rid of, so I decided to take it off them. Yes it may be a bit big for my small bedroom, but I have to say, at least I am super comfy when working here. I added a cute grey fake sheepskin style rug from Ikea for extra cosiness and two cushions for extra comfort – I love it!

I like a nice clutter-free space, but at the same time I feel that a couple of pretty accessories are needed to give a work space a nice ambience. So here’s what I keep on my desk:

On the left I have a photo frame with some picture from my best friends wedding; it was such a beautiful day that I love having these photos here to put a smile on my face.

I love pops of colour, especially in green and especially in the form of real plants and so I have not 1, not 2, but 3 plants on my desk (the big leafy green being my absolute fave, just don’t tell my other plant babies).

Of course a desk without any stationary in sight would be a little strange, so I store my most used pens in this cute pot from Ikea. I love it’s design so much I decided to get the matching little tray too which is perfect for keeping random bits & bobs safe. And of course I tend to have my little diary from The Card Factory in sight at all times so that I can write down To Do’s or appointments quickly before forgetting about them.

Another big must for me is candles (I mean who doesn’t love candles right?!) So I have my little Buddha candle holder on the left as well as a plain glass holder on the right of my desk to provide those cosy vibes on an evening.

On the right side of my desk I also added the postcard I painted a while ago in a pretty frame. It’s a nice visual reminder to encourage me to continue with my artwork and get my paints out more often.

The marble contact paper is a little more susceptible to wear and tear and so to protect it I usually keep a grey placemat on it too. And of course my laptop (which is now a cute little Lenovo Ideapad as I had to say goodbye to my HP which sadly decided to give up on life) tends to stay on my desk too.

Oh, and last but not least, as I love a nice cuppa or a freshly brewed V60 coffee, a coaster on my desk is also a must!

Now for my under-desk storage. I used an old shoe rack as a mini shelf and it’s the perfect size leaving plenty of room for my legs to still fit comfortably under my desk as well as leaving a little room to the left for my folders and files.

I tried to stick with the green theme here too; the boxes I’ve had for quite some time so I can’t remember where I bought them from (although I have a feeling it might have been Wilko’s) and then the baskets I bought the other day from Wilkos to complete my organisation of this storage space. I love how everything has ended up fitting so well.

Each box/basket has a different use and so it’s nice and easy to find things. For example one basket has random stationary bits&bobs, in the next I keep all my letter writing things, in the third all my various notebooks and then the boxes are used for the likes of keeping all my cables and electrical equipment together.

I really enjoyed creating this post and collaborating with Chloe, so don’t forget to go check out her version of the Desk Tour too!

3 WAYS TO STYLE A DENIM DRESS

Hey guys,

Before summer disappears I thought I’d share 3 of my favourite ways to style my denim dress for sunny days. I had searched high and love for a denim dress that would look good on me but was never satisfied with any I tried on. Then finally one day I was browsing a charity shop and discovered this beauty! It fits well and suits my bodyshape. I would say the only problem is that when sitting down it is a little too stretched for my liking and so if I’m sitting for a while I will undo the two bottom buttons. Anyway lets get to it;

I love the versatility of a dungaree dress! It can be dressed up or dressed down and worn for so many occasions.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend!
